Sonicom nozzle adaptors provide an alternative means of securing and positioning the nozzle tip where the non-drip valve is not suitable or practical for the application. A wide variety of adaptor styles are available as standard, and custom designs can be produced to meet specific installation requirements.
Whilst the Sonicom non-drip valve is the recommended solution for the majority of installations, there are circumstances where an adaptor is the more appropriate choice. These are described below.
Low pressure applications
The Sonicom non-drip valve requires a minimum air pressure of approximately 2.5 to 3 bar to operate correctly. Where a system operates below this threshold, an adaptor must be used instead. In these circumstances separate control valves are required for both the air and liquid supplies, ideally activated in a timed sequence to prevent liquid dripping from the nozzle during shutdown.
Operating at lower air pressures affects atomisation characteristics, producing a coarser spray pattern and larger droplet sizes. In certain applications this may be desirable and the adaptor therefore offers a means of achieving spray conditions that the standard valve and nozzle assembly cannot provide.
Space restricted installations
Where the design envelope is limited, the non-drip valve may be too large or heavy to mount in the available space. Adaptors offer a more compact solution and are particularly well suited to installations within ducting or confined chambers.
Construction and customisation
All standard adaptors are manufactured from stainless steel. Mounting brackets can be incorporated within the design specification to complement certain adaptor styles. For applications with specific dimensional, material or configuration requirements, custom designs are available on request.
Compatibility
Sonicom nozzle adaptors are compatible with the full range of Sonicom ultrasonic nozzle tips. Please refer to the individual nozzle tip pages for model specific performance data and dimensions.
