Non-Drip Nozzle Assembly

The Sonicom nozzle assembly combines the Sonicom ultrasonic nozzle tip with the Sonicom non-drip valve to provide a complete, ready to install atomisation unit. It is the recommended configuration for the majority of installations, simplifying both installation and control whilst delivering optimum atomisation performance.

Operating principle

The assembly is controlled entirely by a single compressed air supply, which serves a dual purpose. At or above 3 bar, the air activates the non-drip valve, allowing liquid to flow through to the nozzle where it is atomised by the acoustic field. The same air supply powers the nozzle atomisation simultaneously, meaning liquid flow and atomisation are always synchronised with a simple on/off air signal.

When the air supply is removed, pressure decays and as it falls below 3 bar the valve closes, interrupting liquid flow. As pressure continues to decay the remaining air purges the nozzle automatically, clearing any residual liquid before the system comes to rest. This self cleaning cycle requires no additional components or controls and occurs as a natural consequence of the pressure decay.

Nominal operating pressures

For the majority of applications, optimum atomisation and spray pattern are achieved at 5 bar air pressure and 1 bar liquid pressure at the nozzle. These pressures can be adjusted to suit specific application requirements if needed.

Construction and materials

All engineered components are manufactured from stainless steel with stainless steel springs and Viton seals. The assembly is rated for operation across a temperature range of -20°C to 180°C, making it suitable for demanding industrial environments.

Connections and mounting

Both air and liquid inlet ports are female 1/8" BSP parallel, compatible with swivel elbows, male stud straights and a wide range of other standard fittings in either push-in or compression types. Two 5mm clear through holes in the main body allow the assembly to be mounted directly or onto a standard stainless steel swivel bracket, which is available as a recommended accessory.

Compatibility

The Sonicom nozzle assembly is available with the full range of Sonicom ultrasonic nozzle tips. Please refer to the individual nozzle tip pages for model specific performance data and dimensions.
