Dust Suppression for Power Plants

Power generating companies have always considered their effects on the environment both from visual and pollution sources.

Recent successful developments in the industry's campaign to control fugitive coal dust particulates has now entered a second phase of dust suppression created by the addition of saw dust and milled nut husk to the conveying coal.

These new burning fuels generate severe airborne respirable dust clouds which cannot be suppressed by conventional spray nozzles as their particulate size can be as small as 0.1 micron. A successful solution is to introduce low cost dry fog dust suppression using the sonicom™ Ultrasonic Fogging Nozzle System.

The system agglomerates dust at the source through it's micro fine spray of thousands of tiny water droplets and can be installed in chutes, transfer points, conveyor feeds and outloading stations.

When respirable wood dust particles ranging in diameter from 0.1 to roughly 20 microns are airborne, they become an occuDust Suppression for Power Plantspational nuisance to both the work force and handling plant equipment.

The sonicom™ dry fog dust suppression system controls respirable particulates down to the 0.1 to 3 microns fines which are considered to be the principal source of dust clouds, haze and accompanying low levels of visibility.

Total water consumption is extremely low - only 0.01% of production at each point of concern ensuring that conveyor belt wetting and other accompanying tracking problems are avoided. In addition, it is unnecessary to add costly tension additive product to the water.
